Magic Circle firm Clifford Chance has named partner Connie Heng as the first female head of its Asia-Pacific regional practice. 

Heng, who will begin her new role from Nov. 1, has worked with Clifford Chance for over two decades, having joined the firm in June 2000. She has been the regional head of the firm’s capital markets practice in Asia-Pacific since 2015. Heng will take over the reins from Geraint Hughes, who will remain as a partner in the firm at the end of his four-year term.

Specialises in international securities offerings and structured finance, Heng is also involved in private sales and public auctions of distressed assets in mainland China, Hong Kong and Korea.

Heng’s replacement as head of Clifford Chance’s regional capital markets practice will be named later this year.
