UK-headquartered shipping law firm Hill Dickinson has hired capital markets specialist Kurt Lau as a partner in the firm’s corporate practice in Hong Kong from Eversheds Sutherland, where he was a consultant.

Lau is the first capital markets partner in Hill Dickinson’s Hong Kong office and one of three partners in total, the others being disputes specialists Damien Laracy and Bryan O’Hare. The transactional practice in Hong Kong is led by legal director Antony Cowie.

Lau specialises in IPOs, secondary offerings, mergers and acquisitions, public takeovers, corporate reorganisations and joint ventures. Among his other work, he has advised on the listings of biotech companies, as well as the privatisation of a property developer in Hong Kong.
