Hong Kong law firm Deacons has boosted its trademarks practice with the appointment of IP expert Benjamin Choi as a partner from Mayer Brown.

Choi, who spent more than 11 years at Mayer Brown, has been practicing intellectual property law for 20 years, and is experienced in local and foreign trademark prosecution. He also serves as president of the Hong Kong Institute of Trade Mark Practitioners, promoting improvements in the practice of trademark law, and IP law generally.

Choi’s appointment comes after the firm hired capital markets specialist Peter Cheng as a partner from Davis Polk & Wardwell, last year.

Prior to joining Mayer Brown, Choi was at Baker McKenzie.
