Kennedys has set up shop in Thailand by opening an office in Bangkok, which will be headed by Suraphon Rittipongchusit, former senior partner at DLA Piper’s branch in the capital city.

Rittipongchusit, who specialises in insurance and commercial litigation, mainly represents insurers and reinsurers. He also advises on cross-border corporate transactions throughout Southeast Asia.

He will be joined by second partner Supreedee Nimitkul and senior associate Tassanu Chutikanon. In addition, Ian Johnston, a solicitor and foreign qualified lawyer, will relocate from Kennedys’ Singapore office.

Nimitkul’s practice covers corporate and commercial matters, and he works on key business reorganisations, debt restructurings, complex project financings, JV and M&As.

Thailand is a major insurance market in Southeast Asia. The initial focus of the office will be insurance or reinsurance, dispute resolution and corporate work.
