The Law Society of Singapore has elected Gregory Vijayendran, a partner at Rajah & Tann, as its new president.

Vijayendran, a commercial litigator, succeeds Thio Shen Yi, the joint managing director of TSMP Law Corporation. Thio has held the position since January 2015.

The law society’s 21-member council also voted in two new vice-presidents: Kuah Boon Theng, Legal Clinic director, and Adrian Tan, a partner at Morgan Lewis Stamford.

Vijayendran will commence his term next January.

The Ministry of Law, the Law Society of Singapore and government agency SPRING Singapore have launched “Tech Start for Law”, a $2.8 million programme designed to help local law firms adopt various technologies to improve their productivity and deliver better legal services.
