Michael Buckley

Michael Buckley has been at CITICS (Beijing) since 2011, where he is Head of International M&A. Previously he was an Assistant Director at Rothschild based both in London and Paris. His specialties are in Mergers and Acquisitions (completed +30 transactions) and China cross-border M&A (both inbound and outbound). Notable transactions whilst at CITICS include advising Shanghai Genext Medical on the acquisition of Lifeline Scientific ($90m), Post acquire Michael Foods ($2.5bn), advising SinoHuaxin on the acquisition of Alcatel Lucent Enterprise business (EUR 268m) and advising MaGang on the acquisition of Valdunes ($80m). Michael has an MBA from INSEAD, an MSc in Operations from London School of Economics and a BSc in Medicinal Chemistry from University College London where he graduated first of class. He is a British and Austrian national and speaks English and French.

Wiley Krapf has over 30 years of legal, business and education experience spanning U.S. and China markets. He began his professional career as a commercial litigation attorney in Chicago (1985-1993) and then transitioned into the public sector, eventually leading the procurement departments for City of Chicago and Chicago Park District (1993-2002). He then spent three years as an in-house general counsel and general manager in the telecommunications industry before relocating to Shanghai in 2007. For the past nine years, Wiley has been teaching courses in U.S. and international law at East China University of Political Science and Law, including constitutional law, contracts, corporations, and drafting international sales contracts. He is also an expert on cross-border transactions and disputes. He has a J.D. degree and two LL.M. degrees, one in International Business & Trade Law and one in Intellectual Property Law.

(China’s largest LED epitaxial wafer maker) in a substantial cross-strait M&A deal where San’an bought roughly a 20% stake in Taiwan’s Formosa Epitaxy Inc. for NT$2.352 billion ($80.82 million). This is the largest successful M&A deal in the history of a Chinese company’s direct investment in Taiwan’s high-tech industry.
