Dr. Oliver Massmann

PhD with Major in International Business Law from the European Global School in Paris. Dr. Massmann has over 20 years experience working as commercial lawyer in Vietnam. Dr. Massmann practices in the area of corporate international taxation and on power/water projects, matters related to oil and gas companies and telecoms, privatization and equitization, mergers and acquisitions, and general commercial matters for multinational clients in relation to investment and doing business in Vietnam. He has been awarded "Leading Lawyer" in Mergers and Acquisitions in Vietnam by LEGAL 500 for the last four years in a row.
 
Dr. Massmann is the only foreign lawyer as Member to the Supervisory Board of PetroVietnam
Insurance Corporation, Vietnam's largest industrial insurer. Dr. Massmann is currently working on several investment projects as well as taxation matters and advising the Ministry of Electrical Power on building the power generation infrastructure in Myanmar. The National Assembly of Vietnam invited Dr. Oliver Massmann to present on the Impact of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement on Vietnam, June 2016. Dr. Oliver Massmann is the first foreigner ever to present in Vietnamese language to Members of the National Assembly of Vietnam.
 
Dr. Massmann is registered Arbitrator of the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (The VIAC). He is the only foreign lawyer in Vietnam who is presenting to the National Assembly of Vietnam in Vietnamese language and teaching International law in Vietnamese language at the Ministry of Justice in Hanoi. Dr. Massmann is holding a German Judge Degree. He has worked as arbitrator in International Arbitration and Mediation centers in Asia and Europe during the last 20 years. Dr. Massmann has represented many client in arbitration proceedings and Disputes in these Arbitration centers. Dr. Massmann is a 1994 graduate of Bochum Law University, first state exam and Ministry of Justice, Duesseldorf Germany, second state exam 1997. He is holding a LLM degree in international taxation from St. Thomas University Florida- United State of America. He is certified as International Financial Accountant and Auditor by College of Birmingham. He is admitted to the Bar Association in Berlin and a licensed foreign lawyer in Vietnam.

Vasu Muthyala, partner at the global disputes and investigations law firm Kobre & Kim, represents Asia based individuals and multinational corporations in a broad range of cross-border government investigations and regulatory enforcement matters. Mr. Muthyala focuses his practice on U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations, anti-money laundering, sanctions and fraud. His work, international experience and knowledge of local regulators span Asian jurisdictions including India, Hong Kong, China, and others.

Thomas J. Treutler is the managing director of Tilleke & Gibbins’ Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City offices. Tom is registered to practice as a foreign lawyer in Vietnam and has been providing legal services in Vietnam for 24 years. He has been recognized as a leading lawyer in Vietnam by Chambers, The Legal 500, Asialaw Profiles, and Managing IP.
 
Tom specializes in corporate and commercial law, as well as intellectual property. He advises leading multinationals and small and medium-sized businesses on setting up their business operations in Vietnam. He also regularly advises foreign companies on compliance matters and how to navigate the complicated nuances of Vietnamese labor law. In this area, Tom has led FCPA compliance investigations, and helped successfully resolve several high-profile labor disputes in Vietnam. Tom also regularly handles mergers and acquisitions work, including the Vietnam portion of one of the largest global acquisitions of 2017. He leads Tilleke & Gibbins’ strong franchising  practice in Vietnam, and also advises on media and technology law.
 
Tom serves as the Chairman of AmCham Vietnam’s IT, Telecom & IPR (ITTI) Committee, and currently sits on the INTA Copyright Committee and is a member of the INTA Asia-Pacific Global Advisory Council. He earned his JD, magna cum laude, from Indiana University Bloomington’s Maurer School of Law, where he now serves as a member of the Dean’s Global Advisory Board. He is an attorney licensed by the State Bar of California.

Kien Trung Trinh is a partner in Tilleke & Gibbins’ corporate and commercial group in Vietnam, based in Hanoi. With more than 20 years of experience in advising multinational companies on a wide range of commercial and corporate law, he is regarded as “knowledgeable, practical and responsive” by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific. 
 
Kien specializes in employment law and in drafting labor contracts. He provides sound advice on company work rules, benefit plans, social and health insurance, personal income tax, employment contracts, collective bargaining agreements, confidentiality agreements, employee registration, and terminations and disciplinary actions. Kien has helped various companies secure termination agreements that have prevented outlays of significant sums. He also takes an active role in the firm’s life sciences practice, where he assists clients with registration of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, foods, and animal products. Dr. Vinh Quoc Nguyen

Dr. Vinh Quoc Nguyen is a partner in Tilleke & Gibbins’ corporate and commercial group. An expert in Vietnamese banking and real estate laws, he advises high-profile banks on secured and unsecured corporate lending and regulatory compliance. Vinh is experienced in M&A and corporate matters in Vietnam and also has considerable experience assisting clients in real estate development projects, negotiating management contracts, and advising on related real estate matters. He has assisted several foreign companies with labor disputes with former employees.
 
For over a decade, Vinh served as a Legal Expert in the Ministry of Justice in Hanoi. Vinh continues to serve the government as a lecturer at Vietnam’s Judicial Academy in Ho Chi Minh City and as counsel to numerous government ministries. In 2012, he was appointed as an arbitrator for the Vietnam International Arbitration Center. He earned his Doctor of Judicial Science from Meiji Gakuin University in Tokyo and his LLM from Nagoya University in Nagoya. Vinh is a regular contributor to many business and legal journals and magazines such as the Saigon Times and the Legislative Study Journal.

Chuyen Hong Huu Le is an attorney-at-law in the corporate and commercial group of Tilleke & Gibbins’ Ho Chi Minh City office. Chuyen specializes in foreign investment, corporate services, regulatory affairs, and international asset finance. She has particular expertise in the pharmaceutical and aviation sectors as well as anti-corruption and competition law, including doing presentations and training sessions for staff of clients. Prior to joining Tilleke & Gibbins, Chuyen worked for seven years at one of Vietnam’s top law firms, where she advised a number of Fortune 500 companies on Vietnamese law.
