UK-headquartered law firm Ashurst has hired four partners in Singapore and Seoul. Jean-Louis Neves Mandelli and Scott Baggett (Singapore), and Anna Chung (Seoul) join from Shearman & Sterling, while Lawrence Jhe (Seoul) joins from Kim, Chang & Lee.

The moves come shortly after Shearman announced it would be merging with Magic Circle firm Allen & Overy.

Neves Mandelli advises on project development and financing with special focus on conventional and green energy. He had been at Shearman since 2010, becoming a partner in 2020.

Baggett also advises on project finance and development with an emphasis on the power, petrochemicals, oil and gas, and mining and metals sectors.

Chung, who spent 17 years at Shearman & Sterling and became a partner in 2018, advises on project finance and development. She helped Shearman open its Seoul office in 2019, and joins Ashurst's joint venture with HwaHyun, which was set up in November last year.

Joining Chung at the Ashurst-HwaHyun JV is Jhe, who was head of the corporate practice at Kim, Chang & Lee. With more than three decades of experience in inbound and outbound M&A and domestic matters, Jhe represents clients in M&A, private equity/venture capital, antitrust, cross-border investment securitisation and insolvency matters, with a focus on the venture capital and digital economy industries. He earlier worked at Lee & Ko for a decade, and before that, Shearman.

These hires are Ashurst's first in Asia since December, when the firm hired restructuring and insolvency partner Lance Jiang in Hong Kong.
