Yoko Atsumi, a litigator and former senior partner at Japanese law firm Atsumi & Sakai (A&S), has left with two other lawyers to set up her own firm.

The aim behind setting up Atsumi Law Office is to solve the conflicts of interest that have increased as A&S has expanded, according to an A&S spokesperson. Atsumi Law Office will work closely with A&S going forward.

With 12 years of experience, Yoko Atsumi advises on litigation related to inheritance, libel, shareholder rights, compliance related to Japan’s Securities and Exchange Surveillance Commission, and white-collar crime, among other things.

Having started her career in 2010 at Nishimura & Asahi, Yoko Atsumi moved to litigation boutique Law Office Hironaka in 2014. She set up her own firm in 2017, and closed that in 2020 to join A&S as a senior partner.
