U.S. law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher has hired disputes partner Paul Tan from Cavenagh Law, Clifford Chance’s formal law alliance firm in Singapore, where he was head of litigation.

Tan, a commercial and investor-state arbitration and litigation specialist, will lead Gibson Dunn’s international arbitration practice in Asia. As the firm’s sole full-time disputes partner in Singapore, Tan focuses on disputes across Asia and advises on complex issues of private and public international law.

Tan joined Cavenagh Law in 2020 after 13 years at Singapore Big Four firm Rajah & Tann, where he became a partner in 2014.

“I am excited to begin the next chapter of my career at Gibson Dunn,” said Tan in a release. “The firm’s arbitration practice has a unique reputation for handling mega cases, which is complemented by its elite litigation and global enforcement practices. Together, they present a compelling proposition for the Asian disputes market. These are also key areas of my practice, which I am keen to expand alongside my world-class colleagues.”

Tan’s addition has taken the number of Gibson Dunn partners in Singapore partners to 11. Meanwhile, Cavenagh Law saw its partner count drop to five.
