The Tokyo office of U.S. law firm Greenberg Traurig has hired real estate lawyers Yuko Ino (L) and Koh Ueda as shareholder and of counsel, respectively, from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe. Ino was previously head of Orrick’s Tokyo real estate team.

Ino advises private investment funds, pension funds, real estate asset managers, and real estate developers and investors on structuring, negotiating, documenting and implementing real estate transactions, including non-recourse financing, joint ventures, M&A, restructuring and workouts. She spent more than 12 years at Orrick, prior to which she was at Morrison Foerster and Yanagida & Nomura.

Meanwhile, Ueda specialises in real estate project structured financing, Ueda advises major financial institutions and companies in Japan on the securitisation of assets, including real property, whole business, and monetary claims such as commercial and residential mortgages, auto loans and consumer loans.

With the addition of the duo, Greenberg now has 21 fee-earners in Tokyo, including 10 shareholders. Nine of the 21 lawyers are in the real estate practice.
