Global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills is bolstering its disputes capabilities in Thailand with the addition of Pariyapol Kamolsilp as a partner from local firm Kudun & Partners, where he was co-head of the dispute resolution and litigation practice group.

Pariyapol is a commercial cross-border dispute professional with expertise in dealing with securities issues. He also brings his expertise in business restructuring, rehabilitation and bankruptcy, which the firm said adds to the corporate practice that it launched with the hire of corporate and competition partner Nonnabhat (Niab) Paiboon in 2022.

In 2020, Pariyapol was named as one of the ALB Asia 40 Under 40.

"Thailand's economy is growing, and Bangkok is also a business hub for Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam investment, so client demand for our services is rising," said Bangkok managing partner Warathorn Wongsawangsiri in a statement. "Pariyapol's skills will help us meet that demand, particularly in construction, energy, consumer goods and TMT disputes."

Warathorn, who joined HSF in 2019 from local heavyweight Weerawong, Chinnavat & Partners, became managing partner for the office in March 2023.

"Bangkok is essential to the growth of our Southeast Asia business, as it attracts investors across sectors and is a hub for onward investment," said Asia managing partner Graeme Preston.

Pariyapol becomes HSF’s third partner in its Bangkok office, which has a total of 16 fee-earners.
