Cayman Islands-headquartered offshore firm Maples and Calder has added partner Ian Clark to its Asia funds and investment management practice in Singapore.

Clark joins Maples from rival offshore law firm Harneys’ Hong Kong office, where he was a partner advising clients on the Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands fund products (hedge and private equity) and regulation.

He also has expertise in the ever-growing digital asset space, advising digital asset managers and investors on fund set-ups, token/NFT issuances, play-to-earn gaming and connected regulatory applications.

"Ian's appointment comes at a pivotal moment for our firm as we continue to expand our Asia funds and investment management practice," said Ann Ng, head of Maples’ Asia funds and investment management practice.

Clark will support Asia-based clients navigating the complexities of international fund structures, Maples said in a statement.

Clark joined Harneys in Hong Kong in 2016, prior to which he spent two years at a law firm in Jersey, where he specialised in Jersey fund products and regulation. He made partner at Harneys in January last year.
