Singapore law firm Oon & Bazul has established a tax offering after hiring Ma HanFeng as a partner. Ma was most recently at specialist tax boutique Taxise Asia.

Ma advises on tax issues, including tax disputes in relation to corporate and personal income tax, goods and services tax, property tax and stamp duty.

His hire comes in response to increasing needs from clients for specialised expertise in tax amid the trend to shift affluency to the city-state, Oon & Bazul said in a statement.

Ma joined Taxise in 2022 after working for the Singapore government for 13 years. His roles included deputy public prosecutor at the Attorney-General's Chambers, senior legal counsel/state counsel for the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, and senior legal specialist (tax) with the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore.

Oon & Bazul now has 19 partners. The firm recently lost corporate partner Ting Chi Yen to Joseph Tan Jude Benny, restructuring practice co-head Mei Yen Tan to Norton Rose Fulbright, and litigator Jerald Foo to Selvam.
