Virtus Law, UK law firm Stephenson Harwood's Singapore alliance firm, has hired corporate lawyer Eunice Yao as a partner from Dentons Rodyk & Davidson.

Yao specialises in capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, and FinTech. Her expertise includes advising on initial public offerings, equity and debt fundraising for companies listed on the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited, and company secretarial matters.

Yao had three stints at Dentons Rodyk, including two as a partner. She earlier worked at law firms Fortis Law Corporation, TSMP Law Corporation, Opal Lawyers and Wong Tan & Molly Lim, and held the role of vice-president at DBS Bank, Singapore's largest consumer bank. At DBS, Yao focused on technology, operations, and intellectual property issues.

In 2021, she was named as one of the ALB Asia 40 Under 40.

"Eunice brings an impressive combination of skills," said Lauren Tang, managing partner of Virtus Law, in a statement. "We're particularly excited to draw on her notable FinTech experience. In line with the wider Stephenson Harwood strategy, we see real opportunity in the technology space, and are actively looking to bolster our expertise in this area.”

Virtus Law now has eight partners. The firm lost corporate partner Parikhit Sarma to RHT Law earlier this year.
