Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has advised Hong Kong-headquartered logistics real estate platform ESR Cayman on its $5.2 billion acquisition of fund manager ARA Asset Management, which was counselled by Latham & Watkins.

According to Reuters, the combined entity will be the third-largest listed real estate investment manager in the world. Of its $129 billion of assets under management, more than $50 billion is new economy real estate such as data centres.

The Latham team was led by partners Amy Beckingham, Richard Watkins and Terris Tang.
