Anglo-American law firm DLA Piper has partnered with Datamaran, an environment, social and governance (ESG) risk management and data platform, to integrate ESG and legal due diligence.

Datamaran is a cloud-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform that provides a data-driven process for identifying and monitoring external ESG risks and opportunities.

The partnership will offer DLA’s clients ESG due diligence and risk management across corporate, financing, and transactional activities.

In recent months, law firms across the Asia-Pacific region have been placing increasing emphasis on ESG. In India, Dhir & Dhir Associates launched an ESG practice in March following the hire of partner Sonal Verma. In Hong Kong, former Jones Day partner Ben McQuhae set up an ESG-focused firm called Ben McQuhae & Co last month, while Singapore’s Rajah & Tann launched a sustainability practice for ESG in January.
