The ALB India Law Awards 2021 celebrated the leading law firms, in-house teams and individuals in the country over the past year during a virtual event held on Aug. 19.

AZB & Partners won the highest number of awards in the awards’ third edition. Its haul of seven titles included India Law Firm of the Year, Dispute Resolution Law Firm of the Year, and three individual awards: Ashwath Rau was named Dealmaker of the Year, Zia Mody picked up Woman Lawyer of the Year, and Anand Shah won the Young Lawyer of the Year award.

Meanwhile, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas claimed four awards, which included India Deal Firm of the Year and Restructuring and Insolvency Law Firm of the Year.

The coveted individual award of Managing Partner of the Year went to Pravin Anand of Anand & Anand, which also won Intellectual Property Law Firm of the Year. Meanwhile, Khaitan & Co. was named Data Protection Law Firm of the Year, and also picked up the Dispute Resolution Lawyer of the Year award for Ajay Bhargav.

Among the smaller firms, Ikigai Law was declared Innovative Technologies Law Firm of the Year and Rising Law Firm of the Year, while Veritas Legal was named Boutique Law Firm of the Year.

Meanwhile, Dentons Rodyk & Davidson and Baker McKenzie claimed the titles of India Practice, Asian Law Firm of the Year and International Law Firm of the Year, respectively.

In the in-house categories, Reliance industries won the India In-house Team of the Year while Colgate-Palmolive was the winner of Innovative In-House Team of the Year. Among the individual awards, Priyanka Chaudhari of Netflix, Interglobe Aviation’s Priya Mehra and Shashank Jain from Vistara were named In-House Lawyer of the Year, Woman Lawyer of the Year (In-House) and Young Lawyer of the Year (In-House), respectively.
