Nawal Kishore Anand, founding partner of the Indian law firm Anand and Anand, and a notable figure in the field of intellectual property rights in the country, has passed away. He was 100. 

Anand, who began his career in the 1950s, was a lifelong champion of IP protection. Anand and Anand, the firm he founded in 1979, is today India's leading IP law firm, with 300 staff and offices in New Delhi, Noida, Chennai and Mumbai. 

A member of various legal associations, including the International Bar Association, the Asian Patent Attorneys Association, and the Patent and Trademark Bar Association of ASSOCHAM, Anand also authored works like Law Against Counterfeiting and Piracy and The Menace of Video Piracy to spread awareness about IP. He served as the vice president of the Delhi High Court Bar Association from 1974-76.
