Big Four accounting firm Deloitte has gained local law capability in Singapore after adding local firm Sabara Law to its legal network.

The announcement comes three months after Deloitte became the latest among the Big Four professional services firms to establish a presence in Singapore’s legal space, with the launch of a foreign law practice, Deloitte Legal International.

Fellow Big Four law firms PwC and EY already have local law capabilities in Singapore. In July, PwC lured over veteran corporate lawyer Rachel Eng from WongPartnership to launch local law firm Eng & Co. Within days, Evelyn Ang, a former senior partner at Dentons Rodyk & Davidson, had established Atlas Asia Law Corporation as a part of EY’s legal network.

Sabara Law was launched by Yeoh Lian Chuan, who was a partner at Singapore law firms Allen & Gledhill (2001-2008) and Rajah & Tann (2008-2009), before spending nearly a decade with Allen & Overy as counsel. Earlier in his career, he worked at the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

Meanwhile, Deloitte Legal International is headed by Rashed Idrees, who had stints in an in-house role and with DFDL before moving to Deloitte last year.

The Deloitte Legal network today has more than 2400 legal professionals in upwards of 80 countries.
