International offshore law firm Harneys has appointed Ian Mann as head of litigation and restructuring for Asia.

Mann, who practised as a barrister for eight years at 13 King’s Bench Walk, London prior to moving offshore, joined Harneys in 2009 and was relocated to Hong Kong in April 2010 before becoming a partner early this year. Joining him will be BVI senior associate, Claire Robery and a former Jones Day litigator is set to arrive in September.

Mann specialises in insolvency, restructuring, shareholders’ disputes and contentious trusts and his appointment indicates the increasing volume of offshore-related litigation and restructuring cases in Asia.

Some significant cases he has worked on include contentious trust applications involving Hong Kong and PRC based assets, dispute resolution for a Russian state-owned oil company and unfair prejudice proceedings in relation to a BVI joint venture vehicle owning oil operations in Saudi Arabia.ALB
