Kim & Chang is leading the nominations for the ALB 2014 Korea Law Awards with a total of 12 mentions in firm categories, including Deal Firm of the Year, Managing Partner of the Year and Korean Law Firm of the Year. In addition, 17 deals the firm worked on are also listed as finalists.

Close behind them are Bae Kim & Lee, Lee & Ko and Yulchon, each having more than 20 nominations across the deal and law firm award categories.

Of the foreign law firms, Herbert Smith & Freehills has seven nods in law firm categories, while Ropes & Gray and DLA Piper have four nominations each.

A number of in-house teams have been nominated in three in-house categories, including tech giants Google, IBM and Microsoft, as well as Korea’s CJ E&M Corp and Samsung Engineering.

The winners of the awards, to be decided by an independent panel of judges, will be announced at a gala event on Nov. 14, 2014 in central Seoul.

The 2nd annual ALB Korea Law Awards event will not only honour the outstanding achievements of the leading law firms and in-house legal teams, it will also recognise and reward Korea’s top deals and deal makers of the past 12 months.
