New Zealand technology law firm Simmonds Stewart will open an office in Singapore in February 2017, becoming one of the first firms from that country to do so.

The office will be headed by partner Lee Bagshaw and have two other lawyers. It is expected to offer assistance to clients from New Zealand, especially technology companies.

Founded in 2006 by Andrew Simmonds and Victoria Stewart, the firm decided to focus solely on technology in 2012.

About a quarter of the firm's revenue comes from its more than 40 Southeast Asian clients, according to a media report.
