London-headquartered law firm RPC has entered into a joint law venture (JLV) in Singapore with local outfit Premier Law. The venture will be called RPC Premier Law.

The JLV, which comes into force on May 1, will have 27 lawyers, including four partners. It will offer services such as banking and financial dispute resolution, international arbitration and dispute resolution, corporate, mergers and acquisitions and finance, insurance and reinsurance, marine and international trade, corporate insurance, and restructuring and insolvency.

RPC, which opened in Singapore in February 2012, specialises in insurance work. Premier Law, launched in 2007, handles litigation, arbitration and transactional work for companies in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong and China.

According to a release from the firms, Premier Law “is one of very few firms in Singapore with the capability and freedom from conflicts to take on the major banks and financial institutions, gelling perfectly with RPC's existing banking disputes practice, which is a market leader in both the UK and Asia.”
