Christopher de Souza, a member of the Singapore parliament, has joined WongPartnership as a partner in the firm’s banking and financial disputes practice.

de Souza was previously with Lee & Lee, where he advised and represented clients in court on a wide spectrum of commercial matters, including banking; contracts; intellectual property; disputes involving shareholders, directors and companies; white collar crime; and international arbitration. He recently advised and successfully acted for a Singapore listed company in a cross-jurisdictional commercial matter involving a counter party in Hong Kong, as well as for a US-owned IT-related company in obtaining different sets of injunctions in the High Court.

“We are always on the lookout for talented lawyers to join our team of 100 lawyers in litigation and dispute resolution. We are delighted to welcome Christopher on board," said Andre Maniam, the head of WongPartnership’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group, in a statement.

Outside of law, de Souza also has a long list of accomplishments. A member of parliament since 2006 from Singapore’s Holland-Bukit Timah GRC, he is currently a member of the government parliamentary committees for manpower (as deputy chairman) and law and home affairs. In 2009, he was nominated as a Young Global Leader at the World Economic Forum, and he has represented Singapore in hockey. ALB
