White & Case has named Eric Berg, the New York-based head of its global banking practice, as its Asia head. Singapore partner Barrye Wall will continue in the role of Regional Section Head of Asia.

Berg is expected to be “travelling throughout Asia, spending most of his time in Singapore and Hong Kong,” according to the firm.

The firm also outlined the differences in Berg’s and Wall’s roles and responsibilities. “Eric and Barrye will work closely together, and [Barrye] will continue to oversee the firm’s operations in Asia as he has done since 2008,” it said through a spokesperson. “Eric Berg will focus on building White & Case’s business in Asia and aligning it with our clients’ needs, and Barrye Wall will focus on the internal aspects of operations.”

In Asia, White & Case has offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo.
