The Client                 

Global TV media network company providing entertainment across a portfolio of channels in Asia requires a Director of Legal & Business Affairs to be based in their Singapore office. 

The Role

Excellent opportunity to join a key player in the media network industry in APAC. The candidate will be primarily responsible for negotiating, drafting and overseeing execution of agreements related to original productions, branded content and program licensing for the Client’s networks in Asia.

Reporting Line

  • Vice President, Business Affairs in Los Angeles; and
  • Senior Vice President & General Manager in Singapore or designated person

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate, review and draft agreements related to original productions, branded content and program licensing while ensuring prompt execution.
  • Act as the first point of contact in day-to-day channel requests and follow-up with respect to all program acquisitions, local productions and branded content.
  • Provide proactive risk identification and guidance on risk mitigation to find commercial solutions in the negotiation process.
  • Work with the VP on format acquisitions, development deals and local digital initiatives.
  • Ensure that all contracts are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Client and third party production companies, advertisers and program distributors, as well as with the Networks Finance Groups in Asia and Los Angeles and the Corporate Legal Department in Singapore and Los Angeles to ensure accurate and timely completion of agreements.
  • Cultivate relationships with business/legal affairs counterparts and sales reps at Asia based production and program distribution companies.

Key Requirements

  • 6+ years experience in Business or Legal Affairs with MNC preferred.
  • Degree in Law is required.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage clients’ expectations in a fast paced environment, while maintaining quality of advice.
  • Intellectual property experience will be looked upon favourably.
  • Working familiarity with production and distribution-related and/or acquisition agreements.
  • Excellent English language communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to provide practical legal advice that internal clients can easily adopt and implement
  • Ability to deeply understand the business and strategic goals of the business as a whole
