Job Description

Global multi-media business requires a commercially minded and talented mid-level media lawyer to join their team in Seoul.

The client produces and distributes innovative programming on pay-TV channels internationally. Their content reaches across all demographics and on all platforms – true integration across on-air, online and mobile.

 

The client’s network and their related mobile, non-linear and high-definition extensions, reach billions of subscribers worldwide.  Specifically in Asia, the client strives to realize multiple markets and multilingual similarities rather than differences.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. On a part-time basis of  2 or 3  days/week (frequency negotiable).
  2. Documenting and instructing on various legal aspects of the channels and digital media business in Korea, with emphasis on drafting and advising on Korean language agreements, under the oversight of the Vice President and Senior Counsel of Business & Legal Affairs and/or the regional General Counsel, while working closely with the local management team. 
  3. Assist the Vice President and Senior Counsel of Business & Legal Affairs and/or the regional General Counsel and the local management team on compliance policies and procedures.

 

Required Experience / Skills

  • Admission to the Korean Bar;
  • 4+ years’ experience in commercial practice in an in-house legal department of a Korean corporation or multinational corporation based in Korea, preferably industry-relevant (media group, rights / advertising / sponsorship / management agency, national / international sporting federation, etc.);
  • Law degree from Korean university; and
  • Ability to communicate in English (oral and written, including at a legal-drafting level).
