K&L Gates has hired Guiping Lu as a corporate/capital markets partner in its Hong Kong office from PRC firm Haiwen & Partners. 

Lu’s practice focuses on equity and debt capital market deals and cross-border M&A transactions, in addition to advising clients on private equity, pre-IPO, venture capital financing, and various U.S. securities law matters.

Prior to his stint at Haiwen & Partners, Lu was with Latham & Watkins for more six years, leaving as a counsel.

With the addition of Lu, K&L Gates’ Hong Kong office, which was established in 1996, now has 30 legal professionals, including 13 partners.

The firm also recently hired two corporate partners in Tokyo: Tsuguhito Omagari and Dale M. Araki.
