UK firm Ashurst has hired derivatives expert Jonathan Chapman as a partner in Hong Kong from King & Wood Mallesons where he was a counsel.

Chapman is Ashurst’s fifth lateral partner hire in Asia this year, after it welcomed Cliff Chow and Melody He-Chen in Hong Kong and Evan Lam and Danny Tan in Singapore.

Chapman’s practice focuses on structured finance, the impact of international derivative regulations, issues around IBOR transition, and hedging transactions.  He advises investment banks, funds, insurance companies and corporations.

After starting his career with Clifford Chance in Hong Kong, Chapman worked for nearly nine years at another Magic Circle firm, Allen & Overy. He joined KWM in Hong Kong in September last year.
