Baker Botts has appointed oil and gas specialist Michael E. Arruda as regional partner-in-charge of the firm’s Asia offices.

Arruda, who joined his current firm from Jones Day in September last year, is a partner in the Baker Botts’ energy practice. He has more than thirty years of experience in the oil and gas industry, and focuses on aspects ranging from exploration and development through midstream processing and transportation, to downstream refining and sales, as well as oilfield services.

“Mike is a highly experienced lawyer with a deep understanding of the Asian market for legal services. He will continue our efforts to expand our regional capabilities, while maintaining the highest levels of client service,” said Andrew M. Baker, managing partner of Baker Botts, in a statement.
