Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe has added Scott Peterman as an M&A and private equity partner at its Hong Kong office from Jones Day.

Peterman acts for private fund sponsors and investors in the formation of alternative investment vehicles. He is particularly active in China’s technology sector, having spent 13 years in Silicon Valley as a senior executive prior to practicing law, including serving as Apple's first country manager for China and Korea. At Jones Day, he was part of the team that advised Hong Kong-based internet research and advertising agency Ignite Vision on a private placement sale of shares in Japanese market research firm GMO Research in September 2015.

Peterman’s appointment is Orrick’s sixth partner hire for its global M&A practice since June last year, and comes just weeks since snapping up its fifth partner, Mark Lehmkuhler from Davis Polk, also in Hong Kong.

Orrick’s Hong Kong office, which has been recovering from a seven-partner loss to Morgan, Lewis & Bockius at the start of the year, now has five partners.
