Squire Patton Boggs has launched a global commodities and shipping group after hiring partners Barry Stimpson and Jessica Kenworthy in Singapore from Reed Smith.

Stimpson handles both disputes and advisory work in relation to international trade, shipping, offshore energy, construction and insurance sectors. He was the founding partner of Reed Smith’s Singapore office when it was established in 2012, as well as the office’s managing partner from 2016 to 2018.

Meanwhile, Kenworthy’s practice involves financings, with a focus on commodity financings and ship financings. She has been involved in commodity finance related transactions, acting for lenders, trading houses and multilaterals.

With the appointment of Stimpson and Kenworthy, the number of partners in Squire Patton Boggs’ Singapore office is now seven. The office recently hired Cameron Ford as a partner from Rio Tinto, and lost APAC disputes head Peter Chow to King & Spalding.
