Charlie Wilson, most recently the Indonesia practice head of White & Case, has joined Sidley Austin as a partner in Singapore.

This follows the departures in Jakarta of Mita Djajadiredja and Nadia Soraya, two key partners of White & Case’s former associate firm in Indonesia, MD & Partners.

Wilson, who has 17 years of legal experience in Asia, has acted in notable transactions such as advised Indonesia’s national oil company in its proposed acquisition of a U.S.-based oil company’s Venezuelan oil assets. He has also counseled sovereign wealth and global private equity funds in their Southeast Asia deals.

“Charlie’s experience handling prominent M&A deals in Southeast Asia makes him a strong addition to our team of global M&A lawyers in Singapore,” said Matthew Sheridan, a Singapore-based partner with Sidley Austin, in a statement. “He also brings valuable Indonesia experience to the firm, and we expect that country to continue to attract the attention of our international clients.”
