Withers has hired corporate partner Mike Suen in Hong Kong from DLA Piper.

Suen’s practice focuses on initial public offerings in Hong Kong, including the listing of real estate investment trusts. He is also experienced in mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganisations, compliance pertaining to Hong Kong listing rules and local securities regulatory compliance.

Suen has been involved in several listings on the Hong Kong stock exchange’s main board, including night club owner Magnum Entertainment Group’s IPO in 2014, which raised $16.2 million.

In July, Withers strengthened its corporate practice in Hong Kong with the addition of a six-lawyer team from Winston & Strawn, including its head of Greater China commercial practice Mabel Lui. With the addition of Suen, the firm has five corporate partners in Hong Kong.

“His extensive sector experience across financial services, natural resources, real estate and hospitality are complementary to the firm’s key areas of focus,” said Anthony Indaimo, head of Withers’ Asia corporate and commercial practice. “We are confident that his appointment will strengthen our corporate offering in Asia to further support our clients’ businesses in their listings, fundraising and transactional activities across the region.”
