Malaysian law firms Chooi & Company and Cheang & Ariff will merge to form a  new firm with a headcount of about 80 lawyers. The new entity will be known as Chooi & Company + Cheang & Ariff.

Chooi & Company, which was founded by Chooi Mun Sou in 1962, currently has about 32 lawyers, including 12 partners.

Meanwhile, Cheang & Ariff, which was established in 1986 by Dato’ Loh Siew Cheang and Dato’ Mohammad Ariff Yusof, among others, has about 48 lawyers at present. 

Prior to this merger, Chooi & Company worked with Cheang & Ariff for two decades on an ad hoc basis.
