UK-headquartered Hill Dickinson has entered into a formal law alliance (FLA) with PDLegal, a law firm based in Singapore, to expand its legal offerings in the region. The FLA became effective on Aug. 1, 2024, and will operate under the name Hill Dickinson PDLegal Alliance.

Hill Dickinson, which has had a Singapore office since 2009, announced that the FLA will be able to handle instructions on Singapore law as well as foreign - including English –law matters, by combining the resources of the two firms.

The alliance allows the firms to jointly provide services while remaining separate entities.

“Our decision to partner with a local law firm is in direct response to what our clients have told us they need,” said Andrew Lee, managing partner of Hill Dickinson’s Singapore office.

“The alliance allows us to simplify the legal process for our clients by giving them a single point of contact for all their legal matters, whether subject to local or international law,” he added

“Knowing that they can directly access Singapore law advice through Hill Dickinson not only in respect of arbitration matters, which we already do, but in many more areas, gives our clients the added reassurance that we have responded to their requirements and that they will continue to benefit from the very highest levels of legal excellence and client care,” Lee explained.

Peter Doraisamy, PDLegal's managing partner, says the alliance takes PDLegal a step further in enhancing its international capabilities. “Being allied with a larger international law firm allows us to provide our clients with the holistic support needed to navigate the complexities of international law while ensuring compliance with local regulations,” he said.

In addition to the alliance, PDLegal, which was set up by  Doraisamy in 2017, has expanded its presence by opening an office in Thailand in January, complementing its established desks in India, China, and Malaysia.
