U.S. law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom has lured Friven Yeoh from rival Sidley Austin to head its international litigation and arbitration group in Asia.

Yeoh, a seasoned commercial arbitration practitioner, co-led the global arbitration, trade and advocacy group at Sidley. He joined that firm in 2016 from O'Melveny & Myers, prior to which he worked at Freshfields and Herbert Smith Freehills.

In his new role, Yeoh will split his time between Skadden's Hong Kong and Singapore offices, bringing extensive experience in resolving complex, high-stakes business disputes across various industries.

Yeoh's practice encompasses international arbitrations under various institutional and ad hoc rules, including ICC, HKIAC, CIETAC, SIAC, and UNCITRAL. He is also well-versed in commercial litigation and regulatory investigations involving product liability, energy, corporate affairs, and financial services.

“Friven's proven track record of driving favourable resolutions in highly complicated matters has earned him an outstanding reputation among clients and peers across Asia and beyond,” said Jeremy London, Skadden's executive partner, in a statement.

Added Ryan Junck, a global head of Skadden’s litigation/controversy practices: “Friven’s practice is perfectly matched with the existing capabilities of our international arbitration practice, in addition to our litigation group globally.”

With Yeoh’s addition, Skadden now has 10 partners in Hong Kong.
