In 2000, Asia’s share of global GDP was around 28%. In 2019, Asia generated nearly 40% of the world’s GDP and is now home to nearly 60% of the world’s population. According to McKinsey & Co, “Asia is on track to top 50% of global GDP by 2040 and drive 40% of the world’s consumption, representing a real shift in the world’s centre of gravity.”

Stephenson Harwood has lost two more partners in Hong Kong: Commercial litigation partner Richard Wilmot has joined local firm Tanner De Witt, while energy specialist Marco Pocci has moved to MB Kemp’s newly opened office in London.

Voon Keat Lai, managing partner for Greater China, and partner Ivy Wong have left Stephenson Harwood in Hong Kong to join local boutique M.B. Kemp, which was set up in September by two other former partners of the UK firm.

Malcolm Kemp and Yeeling Wan, former partners of Stephenson Harwood, have established a boutique firm in Hong Kong called M.B. Kemp that specialises in dispute resolution and insolvency work.
