Vivek Kathpalia, Dipti Bedi

India’s third-largest law firm Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM) has established a foreign law practice in Singapore after hiring Vivek Kathpalia from Nishith Desai Associates as the office’s managing director and CEO.

The office will also have director Dipti Bedi, who rejoined CAM in February from Cairn Oil & Gas.

CAM, which had announced the opening of a representative office in Singapore in February, will offer Indian law expertise across various practice areas in the city-state.

The office will initially focus on international arbitration, fintech, investment funds, corporate advisory, private equity, capital markets, banking and finance, technology and data protection, cross border insolvency, and private client work.

In a statement, Rishabh Shroff, head of international business development and co-head of the private client practice at CAM, said, “We are delighted with our new office in Singapore. Given the attraction of high-net-worth individuals to Singapore, the decision to have our presence in a rich ecosystem of Singapore was a logical step in our growth strategy.”

CAM is one of two Indian law firms to have opened their first overseas offices in Singapore this year, the other being Khaitan & Co.
