London-headquartered Watson Farley & Williams has hired disputes lawyer Boon Tat Yeo as a partner in Singapore. Yeo joins from Quahe Woo & Palmer, where he was a director.

This marks WFW’s first partner hire in Singapore since earlier this year when they brought energy M&A attorney Kunal Kapoor on board from Dentons. In July of last year, the firm hired Kimarie Cheang as a partner from Incisive Law to their dispute resolution practice.

Yeo has over 18 years of experience advising clients, particularly top international and Singapore-based contractors, on infrastructure disputes, with focus on construction and engineering projects such as oil refineries, power and petrochemical plants, water treatment facilities and commercial and residential developments in Singapore, China, Taiwan and Vietnam.

Yeo’s hire comes as the firm looks to grow its construction expertise and enhance its energy and infrastructure practice across the Asia Pacific region, particularly in the newly opened offices in Seoul and Tokyo, WFW APAC disputes head Steven Burkill said in a statement.

Before joining Quahe Woo & Palmer in 2020, Yeo was a partner at Pinsent Masons MPillay for over 12 years.

Yeo’s arrival has taken WFW’s partner-count in Singapore to 13.
