Indian law firm Tatva Legal has hired corporate finance expert Timothy Franklyn as a partner in its Bengaluru office.

Franklyn, who describes himself as an “Entrepreneur, Lawyer, Songwriter” on his LinkedIn profile, was most recently the chairman of the National School of Journalism in Bengaluru, an institution that he founded in 2016.

Prior to that, he spent eight years with DLA Piper in Hong Kong as a registered foreign lawyer. Franklyn’s other law firm stints include one year with Allen & Overy and two years with Jones Day. 

During his legal career, Franklyn has advised governments, companies and investment banks on transactions including corporate finance matters, M&A, debt offerings, private placements and IPOs. 

With the new addition, Tatva Legal now has 19 partners and 85 lawyers. The firm was established in 2010, and has offices in New Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Chennai, apart from Bengaluru.
