The Hong Kong office of Dentons has hired Nicholas Chua as a partner. He has 18 years of experience in the banking industry as an in-house counsel, and was most recently head of legal for North Asia at CIMB Bank.
Apart from banking and finance, Chua’s expertise covers capital markets. Prior to joining CIMB in 2012, he held senior in-house roles at Royal Bank of Scotland and ABN AMRO. Chua worked for law firms White & Case and Baker McKenzie earlier in his career.
With Chua’s arrival, Dentons now has nine partners in Hong Kong, including David Blumenfeld, the head of its Asia-Pacific real estate practice, who joined in 2021 from Paul Hastings.
