Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM) has hired yet another partner from rival Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas (SAM) after snapping up corporate specialist Sourav Kanti De Biswas in Delhi.

De Biswas’ appointment is just the latest in a string of hires by CAM from SAM. Earlier, Omar Ahmed was made partner by CAM after he made a shift from SAM, and prior to his hire, SAM partner Akila Agrawal  was appointed by CAM as the head of its M&A practice. SAM principal associate Mukul Sharma also moved to CAM as partner. But the traffic hasn’t all been one-way: CAM corporate partner Nivedita Tiwari headed to CAM.

Following the spilt of erstwhile Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co. in 2015, it was agreed that CAM and SAM would not compete for each other’s lawyers, but over the past two years, the firms have started poaching from each other in a big way.

Prior to SAM, De Biswas was a part of the legacy Amarchand Mangaldas for seven years. He started his career in-house, first with Reliance Communications, and then with Avaya.
