The Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) has opened a representative office in New York. This is SIAC’s first representative office outside Asia and the fifth overseas.

The centre has also set a record for new cases. As of Oct. 30 this year, SIAC saw 1005 new cases, which included two sets of related cases. That figure was more than double the 479 new cases filed in 2019, and that was over a 12-month period. This marked the first time SIAC’s caseload crossed the 1000-case threshold.

The New York representative office of SIAC, which currently also has branches in India, South Korea and China, will be led by Adriana Uson. Uson’s previous experience includes working as a counsel in the SIAC Secretariat, practising as an international arbitration lawyer at a global firm, and serving as sole arbitrator in administered cases.
