Asian Legal Business has announced the shortlist of finalists for the 4th annual Malaysia Law Awards. The awards ceremony will welcome the brightest stars from Malaysia’s legal community at the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur on April 6, 2017.

Top-tier Malaysian law firm Skrine is at the forefront this year, with 10 nominations in categories including Intellectual Property Law Firm of the Year, Energy, Projects and Infrastructure Law Firm of the Year and Banking and Financial Services Law Firm of the Year. Close behind are Azmi & Associates, Albar & Partners and Zaid Ibrahim & Co with eight nominations each; all three firms are finalists for the Islamic Finance Law Firm of the Year award. Meanwhile, Shook Lin & Bok, Adnan Sundra & Low and Shearn Delamore & Co have seven nominations each.

International law firms Ashurst, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Watson Farley & Williams are all vying for International Deal Firm of the Year award and are in the running in various deal award categories.

Among the award categories for in-house teams and individuals, Unilever Malaysia and Sun Life Malaysia lead with three nominations each. Both companies are vying for Malaysia In-House Team of the Year and In-House Lawyer of the Year. Other top in-house finalists include Mercedes-Benz, Sime Darby Group and Microsoft Malaysia.
