Offshore law firm Appleby has hired Kitty Chan as a partner in Shanghai and as a registered foreign lawyer in Hong Kong pending admission.

Chan joins from the Hong Kong office of PRC firm Fangda Partners, where she worked for more than eight years and left as a counsel. Her experience also includes stints at international firms DLA Piper and Fried Frank, and Standard Chartered Bank.

Chan has more than 15 years of experience, specialising in equity capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, foreign investment, corporate governance and compliance matters, and regulatory enforcement. She will act for corporate clients, sponsors and investors as lead counsel on large IPOs and complex corporate matters from Appleby's Hong Kong office.

“This hire marks the fifth hire by Appleby Hong Kong in the last month, and we expect more announcements in the coming months,” said David Bulley, the managing partner of Appleby’s Hong Kong and Shanghai offices. She also becomes the second lateral hire made by the firm, after Hannah Yao, in Shanghai, after that office launched its offshore legal services offering in August this year.
