Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow, the member firm of Baker McKenzie in Singapore, has hired corporate lawyer Theodore Heng as a principal from Herbert Smith Freehills.

With this addition, Bakers intends to tap into the rising demand for M&A advice, the firm said in a statement. “As transformative pressures from the global energy transition and disruptive technologies continue to reshape industries and economies, we expect to see continued healthy levels of private equity activities,” noted Boo Bee Chun, head of the M&A Practice in Singapore.

Experienced in cross-border transactions, Heng advises clients, including financial sponsors, multinational corporates and technology start-ups, in sectors such as financial services, healthcare and energy on private capital deals that are often technology-linked.

Before joining HSF in 2022, Heng worked for Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
