Indian law firm Trilegal has seen a rare recent partner departure, with banking expert Pranav Sharma rejoining Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas as an equity partner in Mumbai.

Sharma has over 23 years of experience in banking and finance, and debt capital markets. Aside from acting for banks and financial institutions and other credit providers on all forms of onshore and offshore financings, he also regularly represents sponsors and borrowers on such financings.

Sharma has advised multilateral, bilateral and government agencies, state-owned enterprises, and companies across a spectrum of financing in India and abroad. His practice is also focused on lending transactions in emerging markets covering Eastern Europe, Russia, Turkey and Africa, besides India.

Having started his career at the legacy Amarchand Mangaldas, Sharma returned to the firm in 2012 as a partner after spending six years at Magic Circle firm Linklaters’ London office. He joined CAM in 2015 following the split, before moving to Trilegal in 2021.

“Given the larger economic factors we see in play in India today, current regulatory trends and the enviable breadth and depth of the firm's market-leading finance practice especially, I am excited about working with the excellent team there to support our clients mobilise debt capital from both the loan and bond markets and to deal with the entire gamut of their financing related requirements,” Sharma said in a statement.

Sharma is CAM’s second partner hire in a matter of days, after Himanshu Chahar rejoined the firm’s newly launched Abu Dhabi office.

Partner departures from Trilegal are rare and far apart, owing to the firm’s attractive equity structure. However, counsels Ruchit Parikh and Anurag Shrivastav left to join the partnerships at AZB & Partners and J. Sagar Associates, respectively, earlier this year.
