Indian law firm Trilegal has revealed it is hiring corporate and private client expert Tanmay Patnaik as a partner in Mumbai from Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, its 10th lateral partner hire announcement in April alone.

Earlier this month, the firm announced it was hiring Payel Chatterjee, head of litigation at Adani Enterprises, as a partner in Mumbai and bringing on board eight corporate partners from Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co, led by Amit Khansaheb.

With more than 12 years of experience, Patnaik advises promoters of Indian business houses as well as wealth management and fiduciary service providers, public personalities, senior executives and non-resident Indians on real estate and succession planning, including cross-border aspects and the Indian exchange control regime, takeover regulations and personal laws, family constitutions and governance, family settlements and disputes, and the establishment of trusts.

Patnaik worked for CAM for eight years, becoming a partner in 2021. Prior to that, he was at the London office of Mishcon de Reya and CAM’s predecessor Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co.

Patnaik’s arrival will take the number of Trilegal partners to 103.
